Marilu Henner BrainWave Twitter Party with Marilu Henner

DATE: Thursday, April 26, 2012
TIME: 5PM-6PM EST
LOCATION: Twitter

What is your most potent memory?

Join us for a live Twitter conversation with Marilu Henner, keynote speaker in the Rubin Museum’s BrainWave Series. We will be live tweeting about the magic of memory, a concept that Marilu is exceedingly familiar with as she is someone with Superior Autobiographical Memory – an uncanny ability to recall details of every day of her life – a talent known to be shared by only six other people in the world.

Our conversation is also a celebration of Marilu’s latest book, Total Memory Makeover: Uncover Your Past, Take Charge of Your Future, which depicts her personal insights and experiences as to how having a reliable memory has helped her in countless scenarios. She also gives readers advice in making memory work for them, from having the right attitude about life and developing a healthy mindset about the past, to building a personal history “track” and using it to actually change your life.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to leverage the Twittersphere while you ponder the following questions:

1. Does an infallible memory help you make better decisions?
2. What types of memories are most valuable to you?
3. What does it feels like to recall an old memory.

Comm Highlight 2 17 This Weeks Community Highlights: Discussing the Importance of Meditation

The importance of meditation was this week’s thread of commonality for the Urban Zen community. We tweeted the quote, “Any action done with awareness is #meditation,” and asked, “Do you agree? Or, should meditation require more ritual?” Friends such as @viltwitt and @SacredFoodGuru responded by sharing their thoughts on the expansiveness of meditation and how it can be practiced in a variety of ways, including in the heart of your kitchen. We especially loved @shantignr8tion’s wise meditation tip, “experience the Haunting Silence of your Rambling Mind!”

This Week’s Community Highlights: Culture & Conscience During Fashion Week

CommHiglights2.13 This Weeks Community Highlights: Culture & Conscience During Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is upon us and the Twittersphere is abuzz sending out #backstage photos and highlights as seen from the front rows of some of the most sought-after shows. In the midst of all of the #fashion tweets, there was another conversation that rose to the surface, one that celebrates culture and conscious consumerism – two concepts we love at Urban Zen. Not only do we love chatting with our online community about these subjects, we love creating real experiences for our local community. This NYFW we’ve created an exhibition in the Stephan Weiss Studio that highlights that magic of Haiti and the ways in which this abundantly creative country has inspired our founder, Donna Karan, to expand her own creative expression.
