In 2006, Donna Karan and Sonja Nuttall hosted HOPE, an event of love and hope for their honored guest, His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, to raise funds for the Norbulingka Institute, a center in Dharamsala, India, dedicated to preserving the richness and luminosity of the art, history and culture of Tibet. The event included a yoga day sponsored by Rodney Yee, conversations with Professor Robert Thurman and a host of dignitaries and special guests. READ MORE

June 15, 2010 "I had heard about Baaba Maal's voice and spirit but to be in the presence of his channel is an experience I will never forget," says Donna Karan. "Baaba Maal is an advocate, inspiration and a model for what Urban Zen stands for which is that of inspiration and change." Urban Zen hosted the singer for an intimate evening celebrating Africa. Bajah and the Dry Eyed Crew opened the event, followed by a Q&A with Baaba Maal, moderated by Dr. Frank Lipman.


February 8, 2010 - The campaign for Hope, Help & Relief Haiti launched at Urban Zen Center with a mission to create a concious community of leaders in music, fashion, film, finance and art to become agents of change for the renewal of Haiti. READ MORE

 

HIGHLIGHTS - 2009

January 22, 2009 - Urban Zen hosted Nomad: Two Worlds as an interactive project with a mixed media art installation, short films, live music, cultural workshops and kids' events. A number of extraordinary people were involved in the project, including Russell James, Hugh Jackman, Deborra-lee Jackman, Baz Lurhmann, Donna Karan, Grammy award winning artist will.i.am, lead singer and producer for The Black Eyed Peas and Lisa Fox. October 27, 2009 - On a brilliant evening with Sting performing for an intimate gathering, Urban Zen Foundation hosted the launch of Bobby Sager’s "The Power of the Invisible Sun," a culmination of his passions: philanthropy, children and photography. READ MORE
